Active Speaking: Activator/Summarizer (Ritz)

Open each class by asking a specific question that targets the grammar/vocabulary topic that is your focus. For example: "Qu'est-ce que tu as fait hier?" "Qu'est-ce que tu fais le matin?" Insist that every student give an answer. You can have students ask each other first, then have every student speak to the whole class. If students simply repeat the answer that another student gave, allow it, but then say that students are now no longer allowed to give that answer. Be sure to have every student speak. Do this almost every day!

To close the class with speaking, have students give their favorite new vocabulary word of the day (or even the word they like the least), or give a short example of the new grammar topic in a short sentence.
